“Ce Clarendon est un monstre de puissance avec une force colossale et une complexité extraordinaire. Le nez requiert beaucoup de patience pour s’ouvrir, mais le résultat en vaut la chandelle : les fruits tropicaux et les fruits secs viennent d’abord, avant que le boisé, le cuir et le tabac ne viennent imprégner le palais avec des notes empyreumatiques très puissantes (fumée). Les épices sont vives, sur la cannelle, les clous de girofle et le poivre qui attise les narines. Le côté médicinal sur le vernis à ongles et les solvants vient en embuscade derrière la mélasse et le caramel pour donner un profil aussi varié qu’impérial sur le plan olfactif. L’attaque en bouche est une véritable guerre aromatique. Le palais est calciné par l’alcool au début, puis les fruits viennent donner un peu de rondeur (fruits secs, rouges et tropicaux). Cependant, les épices ravivent la flamme de ce rhum et déclenche une explosion tannique sur des saveurs phénoliques (colle, solvants, vernis), empyreumatiques (sombre, tabac, cuir, fumée, viande fumée) et mentholées. On assiste à un déluge apocalyptique qui transcende le palais. L’alcool demande beaucoup de temps pour s’apprivoiser, mais il est remarquablement bien intégré. La finale est interminable, avec des notes plus florales, plus mentholées, plus phénoliques et une forte astringence. Les fruits sont toujours présents, soutenus par les épices, le fût de chêne et les notes médicinales, toujours aussi prégnantes en bouche. Clairement le Plantation qui porte le mieux son nom (Extrême), son profil des plus puissants ne conviendra pas à tout le monde, mais quelqu’un qui s’y attardera saura reconnaître la juste valeur de ce rhum d’exception.”

“I just returned from a luxury tasting I was invited to and I'm actually a bit tipsy this time because all the rums had a high proof.This tasting was Plantation extreme only and this is the last one of the six.What a way to end the evening with other rum nerd. A very nice and velbalanced complex rum with a super long fresh finish. Despite the high proof this rum doesn't really need water though you can add a drop or two.High price but also very high quality.”
