“I love these super high quality old demeraras from Velier.Beautiful intense and harmonious nose. Old cedar, malty toast with intense tart-sweet plum jam and cherry. Dark caramel and sweet and sour, licorice molasses. Some dry vanilla powder at the back. Nicely spicy, slightly towards Maggi.Palate: full-bodied and complex. Very malty and toasty. Unexpected fruitiness towards dried date with grape and plum but all in treacle. Sweet but strong wood acidity. Kind of buttery with fruitcake. Wants more!”
