Velier Hampden Trelawny Endemic Birds (Chestnut Bellied Cuckoo) OWH 2012
Highly praised as a dynamic, fruit-forward low-ester Hampden with vivid grapefruit and tropical notes. Intense yet balanced, especially after some rest in the glass, and valued more for tasting than collecting.
Fans of Hampden wanting a more restrained, low-ester single cask with zesty grapefruit and dried fruits at full proof, and collectors interested in limited Velier bottlings.

How does this rum taste?
Dynamic, drier low-ester Hampden
If you enjoy Hampden but want a drier, less wild take at full proof, this OWH single cask delivers clear grapefruit and tropical fruit with structure—great once you’re comfortable with 60%+ ABV.
Beginners, those sensitive to high ABV, or drinkers expecting a super-fruity, high-ester Hampden or a sweet, easygoing sipper for casual pouring.

Beautiful Hampden !! Very dynamic, a lot happens if you take a real time to enjoy it and play with it.
27.03.2021 A nice Velier tasting thanks to my friend Cheng from Singapore. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Intense, light wood, fruity, banana, light olive, light varnish, faint floral. Palate Oily, warm, fruity, orange, tannins, light olive, light salty, spice, light floral. Finish Medium to long, warm, wood, fruits, light orange, faint smoke, light floral. Extra note. Needs to rest for a good while of the ABV ruins the full experience.
A bit woodier and drier than I expected after the last spinner. I wish it had more oatmeal, it's a bit too smooth for a Jamaican. It's not a bad rum, but given the price, I don't need it again.
Etwas bitterer, trockener Abgang.
