I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
15.01.2021 A nice tasting held by my former employer at their main office. Notes Light in colour. Nose Faint wood, ester, banana, overripe, orange, faint vanilla, light floral. Palate Oily, faint wood, ester, fruity, overripe, light citrus, faint caramel, vanilla. Finish Faint wood, ester, fruity, orange, faint smoke, medium dry.
The nose contains hints of chlorophyll, exotic fruits (banana-orange-kiwi), it's very fresh with a light woodiness that reveals itself. In the mouth, sharp notes burst, full of scents that do not betray the expectation created in the nose. There are notes of coffee, fruit, balsamic and mint that mix in a complex rhythm. The finish is a bit short but logical considering the reduction and slightly tannic. As is often the case with Samaroli, the nose is complex and attractive and the palate creamy. I find this blend perfect for getting into Jamaicans.
nice nose, generous mouthfeel, finish a little short but quite logical given the degree of alcohol. price 95e. nose towards empty: woody with a nice freshness
