“A connoisseur’s cuban from a recent but very capable brand that requires some knowledge. This is a rum that seeks to replicate the 19th century profile of cuban rums (as opposed to the more famous early 20th century ones). Notably this rum is 70% aguardiente and 30% molasses. Aguardiente if you dont know is a cane brandy produced from repeatedly heating previously fermented cane juice. You get a taste profile with similarities to cachaca but with the aging and cuban expertise and flair applied here making it far better than what you might imagine from that. The taste is light-bodied but still sharp and dense, benefitting from time and some water to develop. An excellent sipper and a beautiful collabo between the cuban govt and LVMH. A little gem for those who know their rum history.”

“Un rhum cubain très traditionnel, avec des notes torréfiées de café, de chocolat, des noix et des noisettes, du caramel et un soupçon de fruits. La bouche est très douce, concentrée sur le profil léger, épicé et torréfié qu’on retrouve au nez. La finale est assez courte, douce manque clairement de caractère. Un rhum très linéaire et commercial, qui mise sur LVMH et le packaging pour être tapé à l’œil. On notera tout de même qu’il s’agit d’une première étape pour les débutants voulant se détacher petit à petit de l’overdose de sucre des rhums trafiqués.”
