8,4:On the nose, the first impression we get is very fruity and roasted with all kinds of tropical, yellow fruits as pineapple, banana, orange and charred ex bourbon cask aged wood with gourmet caramel, roasted nuts, chocolate, vanilla with smoky touch. There is also some toasted coconut, some spice. Very round and delicious. After airing the rum, we notice wood sap, molasses is more evident, as there is some bitterness, the fruits are dried with dried figs. Nice rest brings also mocha and some parfum. 8:On the palate, the attack is spicy, fruity and with charred, roasted wood. We notice syrupy tropical and yellow bourbon fruits, lemon peel, chocolate, caramel, perhaps nougat and vanilla, nutmeg. There is a very fleeting wave of agricole notes with sugar cane and mineral notes, that quickly vanishes. It becomes dry. There is some toasted coconut, molasses is more present after resting, as the wood is resinous, a bit bitter, medicinal but honeyed and with cocoa. Shortly, very pleasant. 8,2:The finish is long, as the wood is charred, spicy with ginger. The note spectre from the palate lingers on... Very nice, tasty Abuelo. 😋...underrated.
Fruity and warm rum where the ABV could have been better integrated. Even resting for a pretty long time the ABV still dominates a bit. Wonder how it'll perform in a Rum'n'Coke...
Alcohol could be a little better integrated...
