How does this rum taste?
The "Single Cask" Rum from Mauritius, distilled at Saint Aubin in 2003, is a limited release with only 309 bottles. Aged 15 years with an ABV of 45%, it possesses an enticing nose of wood, citrus, and vanilla, complemented by tropical fruit notes. On the palate, it offers a complex blend of woody, vanilla, and cinnamon flavors, maintaining a sweet, peppery undertone. While some users appreciate its unique profile, others feel it lacks boldness, likening it to a whisky in character. Its appealing aroma is often offset by a pronounced wood influence, with a finish that's described as both medium-long and dry. Priced at a premium, this rum is best suited for those who prefer nuanced, woody profiles.

Edit: let it stand again and observe the development a little. Unfortunately, I have to correct it downwards. Unfortunately, it's not more than mediocre First of all, thanks for introducing the rums from Mauritius Gunnar. For me, it's better on the nose than on the palate. It seems a little thin and doesn't last long. Unfortunately, I have to say that I'm a little disappointed. For the price that is being asked, there are far better rums from Mauritius that were included in the package for cheaper money. This whisky finish also ruins things.
A very fine, independent rhum that cannot conceal its sugar cane juice origins from the nose. A rhum from the year in which production from sugar cane juice was officially permitted for the first time in Mauritius. Won't be available for much longer. Unfortunately (even at the distillery) at a price that hurts. So you should definitely taste the rhum before you buy it.
Blind tasting. I immediately thought of whisky. Cereals, malt, yellow fruit. On the palate, it was the same. For me, it was a whisky. I don't know what it's due to, as I don't know St Aubin. Whisky cask or distillery style? In the end, it's really not my thing.
Interessanter Pot-Still Agricole mit viel Kraft. Leider fürchterlich überteuert, daher wird der wohl sicher nicht von vielen getrunken werden können. Zweitverkostung. Diesmal blind. Netter Rum, aber insgesamt zu wenig Ecken und Kanten.
