How does this rum taste?
- Smooth and balanced
- Pleasant vanilla aroma
- Good for casual enjoyment
Produced in Martinique by the esteemed Rhum J.M distillery, the 2010 rum is crafted from sugar cane juice and aged for 10 years, resulting in a 43.4% ABV spirit. The nose features dominant notes of vanilla, wood, and yellow fruits with subtle fruity and orange peel hints. On the palate, it delivers a balanced woody and candied complexity with apple undertones, though some find it diluted. While praised for its smoothness and harmonious vanilla finish, opinions vary with some deeming it slightly underwhelming compared to other rums. This rum's approachable profile makes it a suitable choice for casual enjoyment.

"Very interesting smell of apple and yellow fruit, which is a cool differentiator of J.M to other Agricoles of Martinique. The other profile is typical Rhum Agricole."
"15.01.2021 A nice tasting held by my former employer at their main office. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Fresh, wood, spice, cherry, light earthy, faint floral, light chocolate, sugarcane. Palate Round, wood, sugarcane, light spices, apple, faint salt, light licorice, medium dry. Finish Medium long, medium dry, wood, light salt, tobacco, faint licorice, dried fruit."
"Not unpleasant but lacking personality"
"I tasted it together with the XO, which I appreciate very much. Compared to the XO, the 2010 is the much lighter rum.floral yellow instead of ripe red fruit, light vanilla wood instead of the spicy depth. In the mouth, it is also light and downright watery compared to the XO. Taste doesn't arrive much, unfortunately: A hint of apple, wood and of the oriental spices of the XO only some bitterness remains. The finish is short and bitter. The nose is unspectacular but tasty, after which unfortunately nothing comes. The worst invested money this year 😭 Who wants the fl.?"
