Ron Colon High Proof
Most enjoy its funky tropical fruit, Jamaican-style edge and great price, while critics find it young, rough and a bit chemical. Consensus: a solid, characterful mixer that also sips decently.
Fans of Jamaican-style funk who want an affordable, high-proof rum for Daiquiris, Ti’ Punch and tiki drinks, and don’t mind some youthful edges and noticeable alcohol.

How does this rum taste?
Fruity high-proof funk on a budget
If you enjoy Smith & Cross or youthful Worthy Park but want something cheaper and mix-friendly, this gives you similar fruity funk with Salvadoran sweetness at a very fair price.
Beginners sensitive to 55% ABV, drinkers wanting super-smooth, long-aged sippers, or those who dislike ester-driven, slightly rough and bitter profiles.
The combination of cocoa, vanilla and coffee works. The oily consistency makes it smooth for 55.5% by volume, but you can still feel the spiciness of the base rum. The finish is very smooth and long-lasting. If you don't like coffee, you should stay away from this bottle. Everyone else will find the Ron Colon Coffee Infused High Proof Rum an interesting alternative to standard overproof rums, whether for drinks (such as a coffee negroni riff) or for floats.

Insanely interesting rum, which I had not previously on the screen. Has much of an Agricole and fits perfectly in a TiPunch or Daiquiri. Also a mojito could be very exciting. Extremely fruity and light despite the 55.5% vol. A nice interesting summer rum.
Thanks to RumRatings for this sample! This one is by far the best of the 4 samples from Ron Colon! A funky mix of different notes. Nose: Blind i classified it as a jamaican. Esters?!? 🤔🥲 There are smells and tastes of different fruits, agricole and a lot of spice. A short woody, coffee finish. Nose: 8.4 Palate: 7.5 Finish:7,9
After a second taste I must increase my rating. An excellent rum.
At this great price, good becomes very good! I wrote this at the beginning of my rum journey and bought a bottle. The price was fine and the rum proved its worth mainly as a mixer. I have to devalue it a little on its own, the taste is a little too bitter. -4
