"Taste very bitter and astringent."
"Tasted at Liquid Leuven ‘23, so my review remains rather concise. On the nose immediately clear why this is polarising. It’s an eclectic blend of esters, citrus and campfire smoke. Especially the smoky note is quite present. Opens reasonably sour with berrymix and lemon juice; counterbalanced with yellow banana and marzipan. Then heavily spiced with peppers, juniper and cloves, which segue into chamomile tea and dried grasses. A medicinal side takes over and drives the spirit into a wood smoke finish. The palate is similar to the nose. Aggressive, eclectic. There’s the addition of sour pineapple and a little bit of rubber, but the experience remains fruity, spicy, estery and primarily smoky. Despite all this, I still find it light and unbalanced. There’s unfortunately too little wood to tie it all together. More time in, or a more active barrel would have worked magic. The finish is medium long with notes of yellow banana, pineapple juice and marzipan, finishing again with esters and hay."
