How does this rum taste?
Secret Distillery #1 is a distinctive Jamaican rum from the Worthy Park distillery, independently bottled by That Boutique-Y Rum Company. Crafted from molasses and aged for six years, this limited release features only 1821 bottles. With an ABV of 51.5%, it presents bold notes of banana and a characteristic Jamaican funk, alongside hints of tropical and dried fruits. User reviews commend its complex aroma and taste blend with underlying sweetness and a hint of chocolate. Very think and tasty. Probably tropically aged. My guess its a Worthy Park.
very bold and fun WP, supposedly from Sauternes cask.
Nose is funky with lots of tropical fruits and crème brûlée. The palate brings the same funk, fruits, sweet, wood, chocolate and maybe medicinal notes. Medium finish which combines a sweetness and tannins. It punches above it’s weight to my mind and is great value.
At first this one was troubeling for me. I couldn't really place it. My taste for jamaican rum isn't very developed jet, so I compared it against 2 other high proof, young, jamaican rums I had laying around; Smith & Cross and Le Liquoriste Single Estate Jamaica rum 2013. It's much less funky on the nose and much darker of taste. Burnt sugar, dark chocolate, more red fruit. Much to like. I read somewhere that it was finished on ex-sauternes casks? I don't get the same wine-y flavour that I got from the Daily Dram Foursquare sauternes. Still very enjoyable. I need to get used to this one but I don't think it will take long ;)
