“After some inquiries, it seems at least not to be excluded that my sample could no longer ensure a correct reproduction of the real character of this rum. Otherwise, it would be a complete mystery to me what happened here. This has nothing in common with the familiar profile of all the other New Yarmouth 1994 bottlings I know, much more the aromas in my glass arouse the suspicion that a herbal schnapps-like distillate was bottled here. Until the tasting of a reference sample therefore without rating. Update: Finally tasted again with an independent, second sample. The herbal note remains present, but the first sample lacked almost any New Yarmouth-typical note. This does not prove true in the second sample, the NY DNA is present, but the herbal note remains present.”

“Au nez, c'est résineux, acide et fruité sur des arômes extrêmement sur mûris. De la colle, du caramel et de la vanille complète ce bouquet aromatique. On est dans l'extrême, le nez est intense, très riche et concentré. C’est beau. On reste dans les extrêmes sur la bouche, puisqu’elle est, elle aussi, extrêmement intense. L'attaque est franche avec ses 68% au compteur. 26 ans de vieillissement tropical, pas de doute, le bois a pris de la place dans ce rhum. On retrouve un profil plus lourd et moins gourmand que le nez, c'est herbacé et il y a une note médicinale qui me dérange.”
