Overall an interesting unaged Agricole with a little weak nose but that’s very powerful in mouth and at palate with a rather long finish. Rum North Natural 60% comes from The Engenhos do Norte distillery (meaning “mills of the north") in Madeira. The distillery was established in 1927 and was purchased by the Faria family in 2013. They have a steam mill from those early days still in operation which is unique in Europe. For fermentation they use concrete tanks covered with resin-based paint to ensure optimal hygiene. The used cane juice in their rums comes from a blend of several sugar canes harvested on the island and the fermentation process takes normally 48 hours, but can be extended up to four days for rums distilled in a Charente still. This rum, Rum North Natural 60%, is distilled in their Copper Column and the used cane comes from cane fields located near the sea.
Alcohol unfortunately not so well integrated...
Goûté au RhumFest donc dégustation incomplète... Les 60% passent gentiment grasse à une canne gorgée de sucre, quelques notes minérales en fin de bouche. Belle surprise.
Notes assez minéral, très sympa, mais je préfère leur Fire
