How does this rum taste?
The PM rum from Guyana, distilled at Uitvlugt in 1964 and bottled by Cadenhead’s, offers an extraordinary tasting experience. Aged 36 years, it boasts complex notes of prunes, leather, and dried fruit with a rich, full-bodied character. Distilled using a Double Wooden Pot Still and bottled at cask strength (69.3% ABV), it impresses enthusiasts with its unparalleled depth and aromatic intricacies. User feedback highlights its balance of sweetness, dry fruit, tobacco, wood, and spices, creating a symphony of flavors. Described as a "Über-Rum,” it lingers alluringly on the palate. While praised for its complexity, some users find initial aromas less expressive. Nevertheless, its excellence in taste and finish is widely celebrated.

Incredibly good!
For me, the thirty-year-old and the second thirty-six-year-old release of Port Mourants 1964 are a touch further ahead on the nose. To put the dimensions of this "criticism" into perspective - we are standing in the middle of Mount Olympus, the table is full and we are lamenting an opulence that can hardly be enjoyed anywhere else in this form anyway. In my opinion, perfection follows on the palate - or at least the closest thing to it in the context of rum: spectacular complexity and fullness in the mouth, a perfectly orchestrated firework of aromas between sweetness, dried fruit, tobacco, wood and spices - what a rum! Absolutely fantastic.
Still looking for words to describe this miracle. It should not be called rum but put in another category above normal rum. A kinda Über-Rum. The richness, the intensity and depth of the flavors is a unique experience for me so far. I brushed my teeth that evening and next morning, the rum was still lingering around my palate. What a rum!
My personal number 1.
