How does this rum taste?
Most love its intense Hampden funk, fruit and value. Critics find it too hot, bitter or glue‑like with a slightly metallic finish. Consensus: a powerful, characterful Hampden for seasoned drinkers.
If you already enjoy intense Hampdens like other HLCF or 90s vintages, this is a value-heavy, no‑sugar option with all the fruit and funk—just be ready for serious strength.
Those sensitive to high ABV, beginners new to Jamaican funk, or drinkers who dislike bitter, gluey or metallic notes in a dry, non‑sweetened rum.

Yummy, this is a nice Hampden and the price to quality is very good. The nose is fruity with esters and varnish from the start with caramel and light grass trailing. The palate is well balanced, warm and peppery with wood, fruits, ester and light grass. The finish is very long and warm/peppery with wood and pineapple. The finish is lightly dry, something I really like in this release.

Selvfølgelig lidt stærk, men kan duftes uden alle næsehår brændes af. God fuldfed sødme i munden, med en tøndekant. Kokos, vanilje og træ. Lang og tør eftersmag.
Very intense and tastefull. The nosing was so much more complex and full of interesting notes than the palate. Alcohol content was to strong for my tastes and I diluted. But still the burning and wood dominated, leaving very little room for other flavours, or maybe they were not there to begin with?
