The Rum Mercenary DDL Port Mourant 2005
Highly praised as an easygoing Port Mourant with fruity, buttery nose, dry woody palate and excellent value, even if some find it a bit thin and less intense than higher-strength PMs.
Curious explorers who enjoy drier, lightly bitter Demerara profiles with apple, pear, olive and a whisky-leaning character at a relaxed, approachable strength.

How does this rum taste?
Relaxed, great-value Port Mourant sipper
If you’re PM-curious but not ready for full-strength bruisers, this gives you the classic markers in a softer, great-value format that’s easy to drink yet still characterful.
Fans of high-ester power or very intense, cask-strength Port Mourant who may find this too reduced, subtle and slightly thin on the palate.

Wow very intersting stuff so sweet pm not typical for this Guyana style I love it.
Rhum très typé, ont aime ou ont aime pas, moi j’aime 🤤
Very similar to the RomDeLuxe 2005 - but not quite as round and smooth and also not as complex. But the same markers: aniseed, continental fruit, oak, plus a slight mustiness from wet cardboard - the sweet yeast pastry from the RDL is unfortunately missing. The mouth is a little thin with olive and brine and some musty wood just behind the aniseed. As with the RDL, the bitterness is well balanced. The dry finish is unfortunately a little flat with a hint of hay. Overall, a good PM that lacks a little complexity. I would always prefer the RDL.
