The Marrons de la Liberté is a limited edition rum from Guyana, aged for 16 years and bottled at cask strength. It has an ABV of 65.7% and is described as having rubber, vanilla, caramel, woody and leather notes on the nose with roasted barrel spice on the palate. It was compared to a Caroni rum from Bristol & Corman Collins and found to be a great experiment with powerful woody notes and coffee flavors.

Auch hier Süsse vorhanden. Alkohol sehr gut eingebunden. Keine Ahnung was da drin ist, aber es schmeckt heftig nach Caroni. Richtig gutes Zeug. Edit: RumX Advent 1.12.22 Schokolade, espresso, teer, leicht rauchig, Abgang gummi, rote und getrocknete früchte, Kribbeln auf der zunge Schönes bouquet, Abgang hält laaange. Ich schmecke den Rum am nächsten Tag noch im Hals 🤤 Vor der Auflösung dachte ich: davon hätte ich gerne eine Flasche…und siehe da 🥰

#1st dec RumXCalendar Blind tasting: Nose: Rubber, Bicylce tube, woody, toasted, varnish, leather Palate: rubber, caramel, dried fruits, roasted, woody, barrel notes, oily, licorice Finish: long, rubber, licoric, woody, barrel notes, espresso. The alcohol is integrated very well. This one is crazy, on one side it has a bit of a caroni like rubber/bicyle tube taste, but the full body is missing here, it’s … softer. This doesn’t mean it’s bad, but more accessible😏 My Prediction: T.D.L but an old one without those lovely minty notes Approx. 55% Approx. 25 years of aging

Blind, Tag 1 24DaysOfRum 2022 Ich hatte mich auf Caroni festgelegt und war mir auch recht sicher - so kann man sich irren! Die Nase ist recht verschlossen. Ich nehme Trockenfrüchte und Vanille wahr. Am Gaumen dann sehr wuchtig mit vielen Noten, die ich Caroni zuordnen würde. Schwer und ölig. Der Nachklang ist lang und spiegelt schön die Eindrücke vom Gaumen. Ein sehr guter Rum.Wenn der Alkohol besser integriert wäre, würde ich mit 90+ bewerten.

Are we sure, this does not contain a couple of Caroni drops alongside DDL rums? 😅 Very nice and dirty - I can’t remember a similar profile from Guyana tbh.

Au nez on sent la profondeur ! Le boisé et le caoutchouc nous appellent 🤤 En bouche c'est puissant ! Concentré et profond, puis viennent le bois, le caoutchouc et le café ! C'est délicieux et concentré ! Un vrai régal ❤ Une finale caoutchouc et café avec du bacon savoureux 💥 Un brunch puissant et délicieux dans un verre à pied 🔥

Erstklassiger Demerara! Fast schon Caroni-like! So kann der RumX-Kalender weitergehen! Hatte im Vergleich einen Caroni von Bristol&Corman Collins im Glas! Da geht der Le Gustals kalrer Sieger hervor

Einstieg in den RX-Kalender mit einem Demerara. Hätte ich im Blindtasting so nicht geschätzt. Er zeigt viele dreckige Noten, Rauch, Teer aber auch Holz, Leder und Trockenfrüchte. Eher scharfkantig im Geschmack. ABV deutlich.

Goutage rapide. Encore un très bel embouteillage, a l'image de ses petits copains cuffy et de son petit frère opt. proof. Superbe et très bien fait. Je gouterai les deux versions en 1vs1 un de ces soirs. La comme ça, je ne sais pas dire si je préfère la full proof ou la opt. proof.

RumX Adventskalender 1. Dezember: Auf Guyana wäre ich hier nicht gekommen, der Caroni Einfluss kommt sehr gut durch. In der Nase angenehm fruchtig, begleitet von dunkleren Caronitönen, Gummi und frischem Kakao. Im Mund ist mir der Alkohol etwas zu präsent, hier ist der Caroni zwar immer noch präsent macht aber dem Guyana Anteil etwas Platz. Im Abgang ein schönes Zusammenspiel aus Kaffee und dunkler Schokolade begleitet von Gummi.

Richtig geiler Rum! Blind verkostet im RumX Adventskalender und voll in die Caroni-Falle getappt. Nase, Gaumen und Abgang wirklich sehr Caroni. Habe kürzlich mit dem rx12089 Gran Torino schon einen Demerara im “Caroni-Mantel” verkostet und mir den dann auch noch sicherheitshalber dazu eingeschenkt und mich für diesen dann “safe” auf Caroni festgelegt. Wirklich sehr geile Auswahl für den Kale der und toller Rum.

L'alcool est trop présent pour moi. Beaucoup trop pour que j'arrive à apprécier ce rhum autant que le Cuffy du même embouteilleur qui est une de mes références. Ce rhum est gourmand, hyper expressif, lourd, complexe, sucré. Mais trop hard pour moi. Impression confirmée : j'aimerais vraiment goûter la version OP.

Le gust's est un embouitelleur de Manosque. donc bien de chez nous. Un nez que je trouve assez simple, axé sur l'alcool. Au goût, un vrai régal, d'abord les fruits, plutôt discret. Puis de suite après un côté grillé qui vient balancer le sucre des fruits. Pour finir sur le boisé qui couvre tout le reste. l'alcool est présent. la finale est moyenne, et ce mélange sucre/bois donne un goût de réglisse. Chaque gorgée est différente. Un vrai bon Rhum, qui a mon avis coûterait bien plus avec un embouitelleur plus renommé.

RumX Adventskalender 01.12.2022: Blind für einen TDL gehalten, da er zwar dreckige Geschmacksnoten à la Caroni hat, mir jedoch das Ölige nicht deutlich genug war. Im Nachgang und im leeren Glas dann Noten von Savanna Grand Arome, woher auch immer. Auf Guyana wäre ich nicht gekommen…Trotzdem in Summe gelungenes Experiment von hoher Qualität.
