"A rum tasted at the Lucerne Gin and Rum Festival 2024. A nose of dried fruit, yellow fruit, coconut, cookies and marzipan. The palate is smooth, a little diluted, but the peppery spices take over with a nutty edge. Wood and bitterness. The finish is short, with wood, spice and bitterness. A well-made, gourmet entry-level rum."

"I just had Doorlys 12 YO prior to XO and I am not sure if I am weird or everyone else, that gives 12 a higher rate, is. I will be 100% honest with you. The maturation after sherry is awesome it gave XO everything that I missed with 12YO. The sweetness, the prominent chocolate/banana taste with oak barrel/wood being suppressed to the background. With 12YO you had banana taste mixed with sour green apple all underlined by huge woody taste. This one is none of that, you get vanilla, 🍌, raisins, chocolate all underlined but not overpowered by wood/oak. For me this one is a winner and I do not care. The nose is very similar but the palate is a different story. Medium to long finish. 75/100 for me. Reaffirmation: I like XO more than 12YO. Next step is comparison with 14YO. Retasting after AM SC 2001 & 2005 and it stands right at 7.5 that is below SC versions of foursquare as they are typical barbados but they are not offering anything special such as single casks do. I still like XO a little bit more than 12 yo though."
