How does this rum taste?
RumX members love this Valinch & Mallet Diamond 2001 for its roasted Demerara depth: dark chocolate, coffee, prunes and raisins over woody oak. Despite 52.5% cask strength, many call it an easy sipper with balanced dryness; a few note a slightly thin texture or bitter edge. With 44 community reviews and a rising trust level, this 18-year Savalle still single cask (221 bottles) is a distinctive pick.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 46,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
This one has a somewhat thinner texture compared to its 2001 Skeldon brothers. Excellent bottling nevertheless!
Dark, toasty, heavy. You have to be in the mood for this drop. I like it!REV in easy sipping. 🤪
I have had a short break from tasting because I felt like 2-3 days a week with tasting was a bit over the top. Back in shape again and we had a wonderful evening yesterday. This was the last one and what a rum. Nice and fruity from nose to finish. Spicy on the palate with a light dryness to it.
