How does this rum taste?
This rum, crafted in Jamaica's Hampden distillery, is a limited release by Rum Exchange. With only 355 bottles from a 2013 pot still distillation aged for 5 years, it boasts robust profiles. Drinkers note dominant scents of dried fruit and ester with added layers of wood and leather. On the palate, it's spiciness is complemented by vanilla, leather, and a sherry undertone. At 61.5% ABV, it offers a complex journey for enthusiasts. While appreciated for its intricate flavors, mixed reviews on aroma and integration might appeal more to seasoned rum drinkers.

By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 46,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Dark, spicy and creamy. The finish gives the Hampden depth and is reminiscent of a Pagos. The alcohol is not ideally integrated, therefore slight deductions. Otherwise exciting bottling!
Smells like an old damp cellar to me on the nose, not my cup of tea. In the finish, a taste emerges that I unfortunately can't identify, but doesn't suit me at all. However, I now like it better than the first time I drank it.
Adding water helps a lot to add some depth on the palate and push back the slightly off putting foul notes in the nose.
Sweetish, woody... shortly at the end - totally weird - do I have a hint of onion?!
