“La fameuse dégustation du coffret des single cask S.B.S. Le fût # 190. Le nez le plus fruité des quatre mais quand même avec des notes typiques de Caroni. La bouche elle aussi est très fruitée, les arômes Caroni viennent ensuite. Je sens comme une faiblesse en milieu de bouche. La seule finale fruitée de la série. Verre vide : les arômes sont un peu trop discrets. Quelques points au-dessous des fûts #53, #216 car moins équilibré.”

“La comparaison se fait entre les 4 Caronis Single Cask 1997 de chez SBS. Ce Caroni démarre plutôt bien, avec un nez tourné sur le caramel, le cola et le sucre brun. Cette douceur surplombe les éléments lourds et sales typiques de Trinidad, mais se retrouve à jouer avec le cuir, les notes rôties et pimentées et les noix. Le fruité est plutôt léger. Un nez qui pourrait tromper un amateur de rhums latinos. La bouche est un peu en deçà des attentes. On retrouve le côté caramélisé et sucré avec une pointe de fumée et d’épices, mais une sensation presque aqueuse en bouche gâche le plaisir gustatif. Le chocolat noir et l’atelier mécanique se montrent plus timidement. L’alcool aurait pu être mieux intégré. La finale souffre du palais et s’efface assez vite. On retrouve le caramel chaud, le chocolat, des notes plus sèches sur les épices, le cuir et les saveurs empyreumatiques (fumées, rôties). L’atelier mécanique a disparu au profit de notes médicinales qui peinent à faire changer la donne. Un Caroni globalement simple et pas si marqué que cela, il manque des armes pour pouvoir rivaliser.”
