How does this rum taste?
RumX members love this rum’s unique herbal-and-floral freshness with clove, cinnamon and orange peel. From Haiti’s Boukman, it leans gin-like and earthy. Some note medicinal tones or a firm alcohol bite, yet many enjoy it mixed (even with cola) where the botanicals shine. This rum is made in the spirit of the revolutionary Dutty Boukman in mind. Boukman was transported to Haiti as a slave, but became a leader of the “Maroons” (independent societies of escaped and free black people) and a voodoo priest. In 1791, Boukman ignited the Haitian Revolution, swearing an oath to liberty that was toasted with rum. Boukman was soon killed by French colonist but, the movement he started eventually freed Haiti, and defeated Napoleon’s armies. Boukman produce their rum (or spirit drink) in the traditional Haitian way, similar to a local spiced moonshine. The Clairin base comes from two different distilleries.
"Intriguing, Almost looks like Gin but good :) C'est sympa In summary, my tasting notes: Nose: Clove, Cinnamon On the palate: Floral, Orange zest, Almond Finish: Cardamom".
Very powerful in the mouth/ a little too expensive/ quality
Another quite unique bottle from the outside and the inside. Very earthy and fresh and technical at the same time, herbals, grass, floral, spices, medicinal... I quite enjoyed it, another quite crazy Haiti.
