How does this rum taste?
The "Créol" rum from Savanna distillery, produced on Reunion Island, is a limited release of just 851 bottles. Distilled in 2005 from sugar cane juice with a Column Still and aged for 12 years, this 50.5% ABV rum offers a unique profile. Users highlight its complex aroma with notes of cognac, overripe fruit, and spice. The taste presents floral, grape, and dried fruit nuances with sweet brown sugar undertones. This was my very first Savanna rum and it was a revelation at the time. I have since tasted several Savannas, but this is still one of my favorite bottlings from the distillery. From today's perspective, it was also a bargain.
Interessanter Savanna Creole. Zu den Agricole Noten kommt hier eine tolle Grüner Apfel Richtung mit rein. Sehr leicht im Geschmack, Alkohol kaum spürbar wie bei guten Agricoles. Natürlich überhaupt nicht mehr verfügbar diese Abfüllung, aber schöner Single Cask bevor der Savanna-Hype losging.
Nachdem ich in letzter Zeit nun einige andere Savannas probieren durfte, kann ich diesen besser einordnen. Für mich reiht sich dieser im Mittelfeld meiner bisherigen Verkostungen ein. Solide und gute Abfüllung.
