How does this rum taste?
The Signature Blend #1 by That Boutique-Y Rum Company is an intriguing blend produced across multiple countries, combining molasses and sugar cane juice. Distilled using a mix of pot and column stills and offered at 42% ABV, this rum is well-appreciated for its bright and fresh character. Users note grassy, vegetal aromas with hints of banana on the nose and a funky, fresh palate with ester and olive undertones. It's generally favored in cocktail settings like Daiquiris, showcasing its versatility and pleasant natural sweetness. While it may lack boldness as a neat sipper, it remains an accessible choice for mixed drinks and an entry point to blended rums.

Bought purely as a blender test object to broaden my horizons. Definitely a great blend outside my range. When pure, both base materials come into their own and have a harmonious effect. Unfortunately, just a little too thin. In a daiquiri it also cuts a very good figure for me, but even there it lacks a little oomph, which is due to the low ABV. For me, however, it's a great daiquiri mixer for afternoons on the terrace, as you don't really shoot yourself out with it. The easy sipper daiquiri, so to speak. And for less than 30€ it's also very reasonably priced
very accessible and tasty. comes across more as low ester Jamaican than agricole, with a pleasant natural sweetness. Would rather buy WN overproof though.
The nose has lots of estery notes. A little like glue, but in a good way. There's also strong grassy, vegetal notes. The palate keeps the ester from the nose. Lots of grape and melon with a hint of olive. The finish is quite short and light. The olive notes stay for the longest. It's rather delicate. It's inoffensive, unchallenging and reasonably priced. It makes a lovely daiquiri too.
