Most drinkers rave about its explosive vegetal, smoky, meaty complexity and great integration at 69%. Critics find it too wild, peaty or pricey. Consensus: a cult overproof for adventurous palates.

The distillery founded in 1785, still produce their rum as it was done back in that time. The cane is crushed by a waterwheel driven mill. It’s wild fermented. They don’t use any temperature control and the double retort copper pot stills is heated with dried Bagasse. Finally it’s bottled straight from the stills. They use sugar cane juice instead of molasses, but it’s not an Agricole cause they use different methods. Overall it’s a funky rum rich on esters and congeners. It’s probably not for everyone, but I just love everything around it and I think it beats the Jamaican white Overproof’s.
I was expecting something different. Of course, tastes are personal, but to my nose I just can't like it. In fact, I just find it repelling. It reminds me a lot of a cachaça (which I am not thrilled with) compared to clairin or an agricole from Martinique. On the other hand, on the palate despite the high alcohol content I find it softer and "classic." I would have to try it in blending because neat just isn't "my cup of tea." I would not buy the bottle.
Stunning. Rich in aroma and on the palate there is a pronounced peatiness wrapped in a fruity and olive spirit. Long finish. I am being surprised by some white rums that are fruity, but with a strong character rich in nuances thanks to good fermentations. Keeping in mind the value for money this rum is definitely worth considering. I have often spent three times as much for mediocre rums. This distillery is the only one in the world that grinds with a mill that is still working with water. Hand-harvested cane and distillation fire fed with the remains of the cane. Fermentation with native yeasts. Old-fashioned rum.
Better than I thought. Nice and funky in the mouth. Edit: tasted it again, I had to adjust it down a little. I don't like it straight, but I can imagine it very well as a mixer in a TiPunch or daiquiri.
