How does this rum taste?
Silvano's Collection HLCF, distilled in 1992 at Jamaica's Hampden distillery, is a limited release by independent bottler Masam. Aged for 27 years with a 54.5% ABV, this rum reveals prominent notes of pineapple, ripe bananas, and tropical fruit on the nose, held together by underlying pastry and ester aromas. On the palate, a sweet and overripe fruit character is dominant, complemented by smoky wood and hints of vanilla. While some users admire its complexity and balance, others find it less exuberant than expected from a Hampden rum. Overall, Silvano's Collection HLCF is noted for its elegance, sophistication, and delightful finish, appealing particularly to those who appreciate refined and aged cask offerings.

Wow, this one was even better and I have to see if I can get my hands on a bottle somewhere. The nose is complex with lots of fruit, varnish and smoke trailed by flower, caramel, vanilla and a bit of honey. The palate is complex with smoky wood, fruits and vanilla trailed by caramel, licorice and a hint of tea. The finish is very long with smoky wood, tropical fruits and a hint of licorice. Needs to rest and if you add a few drops of water the flavours really open up. Price to quality is very good.
A solid and complex Hampden but it lacks something to make it great
A lovely old Hampden from the early 90s. Very well balanced. Quite sweet and pale in colour, Im assuming it would have been continentally aged. Im getting tropical fruits and some smokiness as well. Very nice.
Ca commence fort avec ce nez très fondu ou les esters, les fruits mûrs et le boisé sont présents mais d'une belle finesse. Ca n'explose pas. Hâte de goûter. Sensation confirmée avec cette bouche élégante ou la trame boisée enrobé les fruits et les esters d'une délicate amertume. C'est vraiment très fin. Superbe.
