How does this rum taste?
- Fruity aroma and taste
- Complex flavor profile
- Distinctive Port Mourant character
The 2008 Port Mourant Rum from Guyana, selected by Milano Rum Festival & Barmetro, is a distinctive blend with a 57% ABV, aged for 10 years and limited to 235 bottles. It offers an intriguing aromatic profile featuring pear, spice, and yellow fruits leading into a flavorful taste of honey, anise, and woody notes. Tasting reviews highlight its fruity spectrum, with some noting a notable Port Mourant woodiness. While it pleases with its complexity, some find the alcohol integration and harmony lacking. Its unique blend of fruitiness and spice makes it appealing to many rum enthusiasts, although a few desire more of the classic Port Mourant robustness. "06.03.2020 Met up with some colleagues to give a tasting at this old iconic place. Notes. Light in colour. Nose Wood, light roasted, nutts, dried fruit, herbs, earthy. Palate Fresh, wood, roasted, raisin, earthy, natural sweetness, nutty, herbs. Finish Medium long, wood, roasted, raisin, herbs."
"good PM. Reminiscent of the Rum Cask PMs (MPM/PM), with lots of yellow fruits and notes towards olive and anise. On the palate, mirabelle plums, apple, burnt sugar, which fades into wood and a fresh, slightly peppery note."
"A Port Mourant with a very light color and lots of fruit, pear, mirabelle plum, plum. The palate does not highlight the fruit, but rather pepper and spices, leather. The finish is long on pepper and spices with a bit of wet woody bitterness. With the glass empty come back the fruits of the nose, interesting. Not an unforgettable rum though. Thanks Rodolphe for the sample."
"A rum that you do not particularly notice its age of 10 years. Very fruity nose, pome fruit and yellow fruits dominate. The palate is dominated by fruity acidity. Green apples and a light honey sweetness alternate and spices join in.Interesting, but not my preferred profile. As someone else has already noted a great similarity to the TRC MDX."
