Westerhall Estate Rum Artesanal Grenada Rum GMWE 1993 25yr 61,1%
The Rum Artesanal Grenada Rum GMWE is a unique 25-year-old rum from Grenada's Westerhall Estate distillery. Distilled in 1993 using a Column Still, this limited release (with only 302 bottles available) was bottled by the independent bottler Heinz Eggert GmbH with an ABV of 61.1%. This rum showcases woody, spicy, coconutty, and nutty flavors in its aroma, while its taste reveals a delightful combination of caramel, coconut, vanilla, banana, and a hint of salt. Our rum experts describe it as a decent Spanish-style rum with power, balance, and a lingering finish characterized by fruits, spices, nuts, and wood. They also appreciate its price to quality ratio but acknowledge that the alcohol might be a bit pronounced for some.

“Not a bad column still expression. However, it’s just not really exciting to me personally while the alcohol is a little to pronounced.”

“I haven't tasted that many rums from Grenada, but this one is OK and the price to quality is very good. The nose is very fruity with wood and toffee trailed by vanilla and nuts. The palate is equally fruity with wood and vanilla trailed by toffee and nuts The finish is long and fruity with spices, nuts and wood.”

“I am not a fan of Spanish style, but I notice that Westerhall knows how to age rum. It's not very complex, but does it's part well. The rum really profits from its higher proof.”
