“Oh putain mon dieu…. Je n’ai pas les mots. C’est le style de jus qui fait passer le Smecta pour un Skeldon 1978. Le nez est infâme, ça transpire les saveurs artificielles et industrielles. On a une espèce de concentré de glucose aromatisé à l’orange avec des touches de caramel qui donnent la nausée (et je ne rigole même pas en disant cela). La bouche confirme qu’on a l’équivalent d’un suppositoire satanique : une boisson liquoreuse, immonde, synthétique au possible. On a l’impression de boire un médicament. C’est écœurant, je ne suis même pas sûr que cela soit un bon rhum pour faire des crêpes. C’est le genre de rhum qui me fait dire qu’il faut une catégorie encore en-dessous de « imbuvable ». La finale est désagréable et artificielle, elle reste en bouche pour mon plus grand malheur. Ce « truc » est une honte, une immondice et probablement une des pires inventions de l’Humanité. Buvez ce jus trafiqué et mutagène et vous aurez le diabète et le cancer. De loin le pire rhum que j’ai jamais goûté, ça mérite un autodafé sur la place publique.”

“That was my seventh Don Papa and now I've had enough. Basically, I am of the opinion that you have to make yourself a picture to be able to judge. For me, of the tasted spirits with rum ambitions, the Rye Cask was still the most drinkable bottling. The Baroko in front of me just smells and tastes like artificial orange flavoring, as used in baking, and Wrigley's Juicy Fruit chewing gum. Followers of this brand and effect drinkers may find their undemanding heaven here, but for me it is definitely nothing.”

“This rum is a good beginners rum because it's light and sweet at the sweet at the same time. You can also use it for deserts or baking in my mind. The nose is sweet and fruity with spice and caramel as well as a light flowery note. The palate is also sweet and fruity with an oily feel to it and very light bitterness in the back. Caramel and vanilla are trailing behind. There is a light bitterness in the back, but barely noticeable. The finish is medium long, sweet and fruity with vanilla.”

“'Wie sehr wollen Sie sich verömmeln lassen?' 'Ja!' Eingedickte Limo, zwei Sorten Kaugummi drin aufgelöst, ein Schuss Engerydrink dazu, rühren, mit Primasprit auffüllen. Farbe und irgendwas 'smoothes' rein, fertig. Die Nase ist abturnend, der Geschmack ein Totalausfall. Aromenlasterunfall auf der Autobahn, Falernum von jemandem im Kosmos-Chemibaukasten gemacht. Der absolute Oberhammer ist dass 'Baroko' im Prinzip der selbe, 'normale' Don Papa von vor 2022 ist. Geht halt als 'Rum' in neuer EU-Verordnung nicht. Also runter von Markt, neues Label drauf und einfach mal vermarkten als wäre es ein neuer Spiced in der Serie. Der 'normale' wird jetzt als 'Don Papa 7' mit Zusätzen an der Obergrenze des Erlaubten verkauft. Und ist noch ungenießbarer. Es wäre frech wenn es nicht absurd dreist wäre.”

“Orange orange orange! The nose is all orange flavours with vanilla and butterscotch. The taste is just more of the same, oranges! But also spices and woody notes from the barrels. This is fine as a sipper if you want a rum that really tastes like oranges, almost like cointreau. The standard Don Papa is less spicy. I prefer the Baroko variant with more taste.”
