How does this rum taste?
RumX members rave about the glue-and-coconut nose, with vanilla and toasted oak. On the palate: caramelized sweetness, leather, oak and Demerara depth—complex yet approachable, with the 55.1% nicely integrated. Frequently compared to top Velier Demeraras and praised for great value. Enjoy it neat and give it time in the glass. A popular, limited 1998 Diamond release (790 bottles) with 118 reviews—outstanding quality many would happily choose again.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 260,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.

A wonderful tropical ripened Demerara with lots of coconut. Beautiful nose, you can smell it forever. The alcohol is very well integrated, perhaps not quite as complex. The cask probably saw caramel in some form, very oily, dark and full-bodied.Another alternative from the underrated El Dorado Rare Collection. No idea why this one is still available, I've been saving up for it anyway.
My favorite of the El Dorado series! A real nugget. The best rum from Guyana I've ever had in my glass!
Very nice adhesive nose. Complex yet light on the palate. The perfect "velier saver" 😉
Can absolutely keep up with the Diamonds from Velier!
