How does this rum taste?
Carta Oro, crafted in the Canary Islands at the historic Arehucas distillery, is a light molasses rum aged for one year. It carries a pronounced alcoholic aroma with hints of vanilla, hot spices, and a touch of orange. Our community of RumX members notes its subdued sweetness and woody, peppery flavor, though some find it too neutral for sipping neat. Many suggest enjoying it in a mix, with a few praising its value for money. Overall, the spirit offers a modest yet distinct profile that is worth exploring, especially if you appreciate a rum that leans towards smooth and mild notes with a gentle complexity.

To ArehucasBy rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Unfortunately only flat and sprightly
Spritzy, flat, sweetened. Despite the low %, it tastes of neutral alcohol. There is a hint of hazelnut at the very end. Really not good, not even as a vacation souvenir.
I like this version the least of what I've tried from the brand. Very fizzy and otherwise hardly any taste of its own. Not a real pleasure even with cola. But it only costs 12€/liter.
OK for mixing. But nothing at all for drinking straight
