This Saint James at ABV 60% made from cane juice is not distilled in an column still as most of their produced rum, instead it’s double distilled in copper pot stills. So because of that it’s an Agricole without being an AOC rum. It makes a good Ti Punch.

Pur für mich kein Genuss, aber genial im Ti‘Punch. Da gefällt er mir noch besser als der HSE 55, der sonst mein „Standard“ in Sachen ungereifte Agricoles war.

Ein fruchtiger Geruch nach Zuckerrohr, Gras, typisch Agricole, etwas Honig. Im Geschmack eher überraschend wenig Zuckerrohr, etwas Pfeffer, leicht fruchtig. Ein sehr leckerer Agricole.

Nach einem mitreißenden Review von thelonecaner diesen pot still agricole gekauft. War mir anfangs zu heftig, insb. die erdigen Aromen, die mich glauben ließen die Zuckerrohrwurzeln zu kauen - ein Eindruck der über ein dreivietel jahr viel schwächer geworden ist. Alkohol ist gut eingebunden, aber 60% bringen eine gewisse Schärfe mit. Inzwischen weiß ich ihn zu schätzen, gerade im Ti Punch mit nur wenig Limette entwickelt er eine tiefe rote Beerigkeit. Der ist außerdem meine Geheimzutat im Mai Tai.
