How does this rum taste?
RumX members rave about the stunning nose: dried fruits, tobacco and a fresh apple lift, with touches of vanilla and caramel. The 17‑year‑old, 61.6% cask strength palate turns drier and spicier—woody, leathery and vegetal—with a long, warming finish. Many find the proof impressively integrated after rest, revealing chocolate nuances. Well regarded across 44 community reviews with rising trust—this is a limited release of 485 bottles.

By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
On the nose come exciting notes towards green apple, herbaceous freshness, dried fruit, milk chocolate and caramel, but also a fair amount of solvent. On the palate, however, the Depaz comes across quite gruff, alcoholic spiciness, lots of (young) barrel, apple, salty finish. The nose convinces, on the palate, unfortunately, he can not keep up.
Franconian Tasting Gang am 19.04.2024 Im Agricole Battle messen sich Neisson Straight from the Barrel No.26, No.252 und der Depaz CS 2002 Barrel 706 (der hier der unfaire Gegener ist) No.26 kann man mal trinken, ist schon gut , No.252 ist schon etwas besser aber der Depaz macht hier klar das Rennen gegen die beiden anderen. Er ist einfach eine andere Liga.
Second tasting: I like very much, today I find in the aftertaste even Calvados! ( 2)Nose: the first thing I notice is that the alcohol is very restrained, nothing bites and stings the nose. And then there is a striking similarity with sweet wine (Trockenbeerenauslese)Palate: nothing more of sweet wine but strong alcohol and much barrel influence and floral notes. Slight resemblance to cognac.Finish: cool, the impression of sweet wine comes back again! Very good rum, a bottle I would not buy. For me it is too woody and too expensive, but I'm glad I have a sample.
