8,8:On the nose, it is very oriented on sugar cane juice with some exotic fruit and floral notes. Pepper joins to complete the agricole profile. There are dried apricots with caramelized sugar and nuts, as hazelnut, milk chocolate, pastry, some smoke, vegetal and a touch of varnish.The nose is very balanced with intense fruitiness, contained by cinnamon and leather. When aired a bit, more fruits come out, as dried fruits, licorice and ripe, cooked banana. 9:On the palate the first attack is quite intense, peppery and juicy with sugar cane. The wood is waxy and with licorice. The fruit is less intense as on the nose, with bourbon yellow fruits as apricot, peach and pear. The palate is rather dry, woody, minimally roasted, as there is some smoke. We cannot miss tasty nuts, chocolate and pastries. 8,8:The finish is agricole classic, with toasty wood, caramel, juicy sugar cane, smoke, pastry, dry, a bit floral...
Picked up this nice bottle last Saturday and surprised myself by not opening it until today. This is a wonderful rhum Agricole and yes I know you pay extra for the nice crystal decanter :-) The nose is wonderfully fruity with spices, caramel and coconut. There is some candy and grass in there too. The palate matches the nose and then some. Well balanced and slightly salty with lots of fruit and spices. Caramel, coffee and smoky wood finishes the whole experience. The finish is very long, slightly dry with orange zest and spices. Again finishing the experience with smoked wood.
