Silver Seal Clarendon Jamaica 1984
Highly regarded for its intense oak-driven complexity, long finish and bold Jamaica character. Loved by fans of dry, mature rums; divisive bitterness keeps it from universal appeal.
Seasoned enthusiasts into very old, dry Jamaican rums with strong oak, bitterness and tobacco/licorice notes who enjoy picking apart complex, high-ABV pours over a long session.

How does Silver Seal Clarendon Jamaica 1984 taste?
Bold, bitter old-school Clarendon
If you enjoy very old, dry tropical-aged Jamaicans like long-aged Hampden or Clarendon, this pushes that style to the limit with massive oak, bitterness and depth.
Newcomers, those sensitive to high ABV or anyone preferring sweet, fruity or soft Jamaicans without dominant oak and bitter notes.

I think this one will raise a stir during tasting. I do like Jamaican rums thus the high score.Leave to rest for at least 15 minutes in order to release all the flavours.Molasses and fruits get to your nose first, then comes the funk and woody vanilla and some varnish. The palate is nice and strong. Burnt wood with fruit, chocolate and caramel in the front. Then you get hit by subtle tobacco, mint and licorice. The finish is long and stays with you for a long while. Charred wood with currants and wonderful chocolate.
Lots of glue and tropical fruit basket on the nose. Wood is present, but just right considering the age. Very nice! In the mouth then much less fruit, now the oak dominates. I really like the rum on the nose. The rest is wood.
Spannend, aber mir persönlich zu starke Bitter-Noten.
