How does this rum taste?
The Blended Trinidad Rum from the Caroni distillery, bottled by Velier, offers a complex blend of smoky, vanilla, and dried fruit aromas, accented with apple and almond. On tasting, the rum reveals dominant woody notes complemented by vanilla, roasted character, and hints of rubber and tar. Despite its robust 55% ABV, this limited edition of only 2050 bottles is appreciated for its balance and smooth incorporation of alcohol. Some users find the profile akin to tropical rums and note the lack of traditional Caroni complexity. This releases a velvety experience often compared to Foursquare, though some miss the expected intensity of Caroni’s unique signature.

Epic Velier Caroni Tasting: etwas wenig Power, geht in Richtung Foursquare, fehlt Komplexität.

#4217 19.08.2023 we had our yearly meeting among old friends. When we do this once a year its without partners, cellphones and other gadgets. Just some nice rums, a piece of paper and a pen and most fun of all, a blind tasting. The theme of 2023 was Caroni and we had a great time and spend no less then 10 hours talking and tasting. Now to the bottle. Pretty good Caroni and it was bought when released at a very good price. A fruity Caroni in my mind, but still with some rubber and tar. Wood and roasted/smoky notes were really well balanced as was the ABV. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has more smoke and some mint.
Vielen Dank an Pavel Spacek für das Sample. Blind hätte ich hier wohl auf einen tropisch gereiften Guyana-Column-Still getippt, das Profil ist sehr ähnlich. Die typischen Caroni-Marker sind sehr weit im Hintergrund. Alkohol ist wunderbar eingebunden. Sehr gefällig, aber es fehlt etwas an Komplexität.
