How does this rum taste?
The Velier AN, from the historic Albion distillery in Guyana, is a limited 1989 release aged 19 years. Distilled from molasses and high in alcohol at 62.7%, this rum offers complex aromas of toffee, chocolate, and vanilla. On the palate, it presents rich notes of vanilla and chocolate, with a fruity, oily texture featuring mango hints. Reviewers commonly note its intensity and complexity, describing it as an extraordinary aromatic experience with a unique combination of flavors. Despite its strong profile, the rum's rarity and high price are often mentioned, enhancing its allure among connoisseurs.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Albion meets Grande Arôme - the classic profile of vanilla, oak and toffee is complemented by a subtle note of fermented fruit and mint, which I associate directly with Savanna Grand Arômes. Unique combination at the highest level.
A bit rougher, but more complex than the Albion 2004.
Incredible experience. Nose 95 points, taste points. Very exciting combination of caramelized fruits, spices, dark chocolate and smoke. In direct comparison to the Albion from El dorado, which is of course a little younger, I didn't think it was worth 30 times as much...
I threw 1500 euro after this bottle last week and I don't regret it a single moment. Wow, what a rum!
