Sometimes you get your hand on something different and I got a few of those recently. The nose is alcoholic, but on the other hand it is a hefty proof served here. A fruity nose in general with some nuts and a bit of smoke/tobacco topped with hint of oak. The palate is velvety and well balanced with fruits, licorice and some wood. In the bace there is a bit of chemical and polish. The finish is long and peppery with fruits and a hint of oak. This rum is between rum and whisky so caters to both camps.
Bildvergrößerung: beim Einschenken ist direkt schon klar, aus welcher Destillerie dieser Rum stammen muss. Das ist ein Caroni! Der Nase nach dürfte dieser Rum auch nicht in Fassstärke abgefüllt worden sein, da der Alkohol nur ganz schwach wahrzunehmen ist. Dafür aber umso intensiver: Petroleum, Benzin und verbranntes noch rauchendes Gummi. Im Mund zu Beginn eine leichte Süße, welche bis zum Abgang immer trockener wird. Am Anfang eine starke Würze – getrocknete Daddeln und Pflaumen – welche in die Aromen, die in der Nase präsent waren übergeht: Petroleum, Benzin und Gummi mit etwas Rauch. Im Abgang dann Eiche, Bitterschokolade und Tabak – trocken und lange. Ein guter Rum, aus einer leider längst geschlossenen Brennerei. Vermutlich mit 47-50% abgefüllt worden und auch etwas jünger (~13-15y) als die Abfüllungen, die ich überwiegend kenne. Ein paar Prozente mehr und er hätte ein kleines Monster werden können. 84 Punkte
