Super complex! Great Versailles with a deep, woody, slightly bitter, spicy Black Tot note! Tasting on 13.10.23: unfortunately there is virtually no other 86 Enmore for comparison. Charles has solved the mystery behind the rum. In terms of taste, this must be a KFM! It's quite similar to the Flensburg 91, but much fruitier due to the shorter ageing period. An excellent rum that is second to none!
A very fine greeting from the old enchanted forest. More precisely: from the forest floor overgrown with berries. Yes, that must be a KFM! I only knew it from 1991, so I poured myself some of the RX7441 for comparison. Et voilà: clear similarity. However, the Silver Seal is much deeper, rounder and fruitier. A really great drop (for KFM lovers like me)!
Comment 09.02.2025: Another Guyana rum that totally thrilled me. In crosstasting it clearly outperformed the Enmore/Versailles from 1988-1992. Nevertheless, I had the feeling that my notes didn't do it justice. Today I think: what the heck, out with it. There was no other rum I had to think about as often last year as this one. My absolute favorite. And once again, thanks to Stefan! Original 08.06.2024: Crosstasted with the FRC 1992 MEC, Idr 1988 Guyana, FRC 1991 KFM #2, Nobilis 1991 KFM and the RA 1994 REV #1. The profile corresponds most closely to the 1988 Idr, but is several classes better. It is probably a MEC. The nose is typical Versailles with wet wood, lovage and dried fruit. The nose is a little restrained at first and needs a little time to open up. The mouth, on the other hand, is an immediate revelation. The essence of a crumbly, dried fruit compote of red fruits with the vegetal notes of the nose.
90 points. All the classic Enmore markers are present with a lovely tobacco note in both nose and mouth. Add some earthiness, coffee, leather and a pleasant bitter note and you have a very good Enmore.
