The "Old Demerara Rum" was produced in Guyana at the La Bonne Intention distillery. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler Velier. It was distilled in 1985 from Molasses with a Column Still and then aged for 15 years. The rum has an ABV of 40%. 10 community members rated this rum with an average of 8.2/10. This one was a bit disappointing actually. I had expected far more.The nose is light and fruity with smoky wood, coffee, chocolate and caramel. Leave the empty glass and the flavours really come out.The palate is also light, sweet and fruity with smoke wood, vanilla and a hint of coffee.The finish is short and light with wood and raisin.Price to quality not very good on this one.
A really interesting rum, a piece of history. A low abv Demerara but this doesn't harm it's taste, still full bodied and rich
