How does this rum taste?
- Balanced tropical fruit flavors
- Approachable and smooth
- Limited edition rarity
This limited edition rum from the Hampden Distillery in Jamaica, distilled in 1993 and aged for 20 years, showcases a balance of ester-rich tropical flavors like pineapple and banana, complemented by marzipan and subtle solvents. Bottled at 50% ABV by Silver Seal, it offers a nuanced Hampden experience with floral and fruity notes. While praised for its approachable taste and exceptional bottle quality, some critics note that its reduced ABV results in a thinner body. Nonetheless, it remains a sought-after release, delivering the hallmark estery character of its origin, though less intense compared to cask-strength versions. With just 295 bottles available, this rum holds a distinctive place in RumX's marketplace.

"Another wonderful release. Nice and fruity with roasted wood and spices. Very well balanced and the ABV has been integrated really well. Would really habe liked to try it at cask strength 😊"
"My first '93 Hampden. In this case, from the <>H batch (probably one of the peculiarities of this year, in which different marks were produced with <>H and C<>H). Despite the dilution, which is obvious to taste, this Hampden comes around the corner with quite a complex flavor. In addition to the classic Hampden flavors, this bottling features strong floral notes that give the whole an unfamiliar, but by no means unpleasant, touch in addition to the Hampden DNA. Overall, however, to identify as <>H that washes over the taste buds with some esters, but just not the full broadside. At cask strength probably a top bottling, so only upper midfield for me."
