Havana Club 7 Años Añejo
Generally considered a good mixer with balanced notes of wood and caramel, but unremarkable as a sipper for seasoned drinkers. One to try if you enjoy a mellow rum for cocktail duty.
Balanced, woody caramel rum—best enjoyed mixed or casually neat.

How does this rum taste?
- Great mixer for Cuba Libre
- Impressively fair price-enjoyment ratio
- Nice balance of wood and vanilla
Havana Club 7 Años Añejo leans heavily into woody, caramel, vanilla, and subtle tobacco aromas, with a touch of fruit weaving through. RumX members often highlight its approachable character, calling it "straightforward and quite balanced" (Tyler L) and praising the "fair price-enjoyment ratio" (Lutz Lungershausen). The palate reflects similar notes—wood, spice, and a hint of cocoa or coffee—though the alcohol prickle is mentioned by several. While some think it shines best in cocktails like Cuba Libre, others see it as a reliable entry sipper, especially for newcomers.

"Solid mixing rum. It is particularly suitable for beginners or as an ingredient for high-quality cocktails. However, experienced connoisseurs may find it lacking in depth and complexity. A reliable classic that does not disappoint, but also offers nothing exciting."
"6,5:The nose is both sweet and rather imposing. It's a light rum in terms of aroma, but not in terms of power. The sugar softens a rather dry, peppery woodiness, along with a few notes of fermentation that seem to have come back from afar even light smokiness/tobacco. Aeration brings out sweet fruits, coffee that melt into a grenadine syrup that is nonetheless rather powerful and floral. 6:The palate is quite round and simple, with caramel and vanilla. The alcohol warms the taste buds and awakens a dark coffee. 6:The finish is rather sweet, short, but tickled by hints of pepper and slightly metallic alcohol.."
"Though this rum could be a sipper we mostly use it for mixers in which it performs pretty well."
"Fairly light color, caramel and vanilla on the nose, with a pleasant hint of orange. The palate is more woody than the nose, with a dilution and lack of amplitude that take away points. The finish is fairly short, but a note of bitter caramel lingers long enough. A rum that should be very pleasant for mixology."
