How does this rum taste?
The 1982 Long Pond rum, bottled by Isla del Ron, is a rare Jamaican gem with just 112 bottles released. Aged for 30 years, this rum is crafted from molasses using a pot still and boasts a robust 56.2% ABV. On the nose, it reveals powerful aromas of tropical fruit, strawberry, and oak. The palate is dominated by rich barrel notes, tobacco, and roasted nuances, finishing with chocolate and red fruits. While its elegance and complexity are praised, some find it slightly dry, hinting at its lengthy aging.

Geschichte im Glas. Sehr guter, aber für mich kein überragender Rum.
Liquid historie… Sehr ausgewogen, kaum Ester, sehr cremiges Mundgefühl. Aber für mich kein Über-Rum.
Sehr alt. Leider etwas zu alt. Der Rum ist sehr trocken und zeigt schon einige Bitternoten. Auch der Alkohol kratzt leicht. Schade, hier hatte Ich Großes erwartet.
im anderen Glas nochmal den 82er (33 jährigen) BBR Long Pond zum Vergleich. Erstaunlich wie groß die Unterschiede sind! Der IdR ist fruchtiger, mehr Creme und Vinegar, irgendwie LP typischer. Der BBR ist milder, würziger, fast wie ein gereifter Agricole mit Muskatnuss und erdigen Noten. Am Gaumen kommt bei beiden die lange Lagerung durch, und es dominieren Fass und Tabak. Der BBR hat noch einen Tick mehr Süße, der IdR ist etwas röstiger und herber (Limette?). Insgesamt hat der BBR leicht die Nase vorn.
