Small Batch Rare Rums from Reunion offers a bold and complex tasting journey. Distilled in 2007 and aged for 10 years at the Savanna distillery, this limited release (only 675 bottles) packs a high 59.3% ABV punch. Our RumX community notes a distinct aroma blending cherry, sulphur, and smoky hints, intermingled with subtle plastic and petrol nuances. Dieser Rum ist ein leckerer easy sipper mit einem dominanten sherry finish. Im Abgang ist dezent, aber doch deutlich schwefel zu schmecken, der lange im nachklang im mund verbleibt. generell etwas bitterholzig und nussig. Von Savanna ist hier ganz wenig für mich zu erschmecken.
Eindeutig ein Beispiel für eine wirklich schlechte Fass Auswahl fürs Sherry finish. Rauchig, schweflig, Benzin, plastik und Gummi dominieren hier leider den Savanna komplett und machen ihn leider komplett zunichte. Schade wie man ein grundsätzlich gutes Destillat dermaßen zerstören kann ...
Für mich ein sehr interessanter Rum; in der Nase nehme ich nur modrige Noten wahr. Im Gaumen schmeckt man Kirsche mit Holz-, Rauch- und Röstaromen, sowie leichten Schwefel, was wohl die Einflüsse der Vorbelegung sind. Die Kombination der unterschiedlichen Aromen im Gaumen finde ich wirklich gelungen, Nase und Abgang sind aber unspektakulär.
