Small Batch Rare Rums from Reunion offers a bold and complex tasting journey. Distilled in 2007 and aged for 10 years at the Savanna distillery, this limited release (only 675 bottles) packs a high 59.3% ABV punch. Für mich ein sehr interessanter Rum; in der Nase nehme ich nur modrige Noten wahr. Im Gaumen schmeckt man Kirsche mit Holz-, Rauch- und Röstaromen, sowie leichten Schwefel, was wohl die Einflüsse der Vorbelegung sind. Die Kombination der unterschiedlichen Aromen im Gaumen finde ich wirklich gelungen, Nase und Abgang sind aber unspektakulär.
Eindeutig ein Beispiel für eine wirklich schlechte Fass Auswahl fürs Sherry finish. Rauchig, schweflig, Benzin, plastik und Gummi dominieren hier leider den Savanna komplett und machen ihn leider komplett zunichte. Schade wie man ein grundsätzlich gutes Destillat dermaßen zerstören kann ...
The Oloroso finish certainly enhances the rum. The finish is well integrated and is not too dominant. The base is probably rather average - definitely not a grand aroma. Overall a good rum.
