"Having been invited to a friends today for an early tasting of some of his demerara collection."
"A dry Demerara, not my favourite taste profile. Port Mourant."
"something must have gone wrong at Silver Seal. They have very likely mixed a Jamaika cask with the DDL cask. The nose is pure Jamaika. Esters, solvent and a nice fruity touch. Overripe banana and ananas. Sweet and very well balanced. On the palate the fruity notes step back. Still dried fruits, esters, but now there is honey, wood, something that reminds me of a Speyside whiskey, leather. It looses a bit on the finish, but appears still to be very smooth and balanced."
"Nose: seems very fresh, dominated at the beginning by lemon peel and sulfured papaya. A sweetish note of just the lemon and perhaps beeswax. Something woody-spicy hides there too, vanilla and very light resin. At the back something herbal, pickled olive perhaps? Palate: hmm, seems rather flat and diluted at the beginning, but then comes with interesting things: first sulfurous with iodine and clear umami notes, seems metallic and slightly soapy. Then some caraway that evolves towards dried apricot. Not top, but still interesting."
