How does this rum taste?
- Great stuff for the money
- bel équilibre
- surprisingly longer finish
Compagnie des Indes Latino is all about rounded caramel, vanilla and tropical fruit, with sweetness that leans patissier: "faint wood, light licorice, raisin, light marzipan" (Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰), and something pastry-like that keeps popping up among RumX members. Many note how easygoing it is—"Agréable en bouche, aérien, bel équilibre" (Winetrader)—and for several, this is a gateway rum that surprises with its balance and drinkability. While it won’t challenge the seasoned drinker, most taster comments agree on its broad likability and good value, especially for beginners or mixing.

"A light nose with a Demerara base, a hint of lemon and a hint of pastry. A light, acqueous, pastry-like palate. Clean and flawless, but a little too sweet. A short finish with vanilla cream. In short, a rum without qualities but pleasant to drink, very conciliatory and good value for money."
"01.05.2019 Nice tasting with friends including my slow cooked pot roast. Colour Light in colour. Nose Light, fresh, sweet, faint wood, fruits, light pineapple, light caramel, spice, faint chocolate. Palate Faint wood, light, sweet, fruits, faint honey, light licorice, raisin, light marzipan. Finish Medium long, light wood, light honey, fruits, light citrus, light marzipan, spice. Extra Note. Price to quality is really good in my opinion."
"Deutlich nussiger, fruchtiger und komplexer als der caraibes. Vor allem durch den Zusatz von 60% Guatemala Rum. Sehr geiler sipping Einstiegs Rum zum fairen UVP! Mir gefällt vor allem die Fruchtigkeit und Würze. Überraschend länger Abgang trotz 15g dosage."
"A pleasant sipped rum, bought on impulse. Very sweet for my taste but not clogging or unpleasant and I got nice mango notes running through it complimented by subtle woodiness. Mixing with coke i found brought out darker notes of coffee and licorice."
