How does this rum taste?
The Blended Trinidad Rum from Caroni, distilled in 1991 and bottled by Velier, presents an evocative profile with high complexity. Carefully aged for 19 years, this limited-edition rum reflects rich notes of butterscotch, dried fruits, and barrel nuances. At 61.7% ABV, it delivers intense flavors like prunes, chocolate, and anise, alongside traditional Caroni characteristics of slight tar and licorice. While praised for its sweetness and layered taste experience, some users find the alcohol integration could improve. Overall, this rare Caroni offering caters to connoisseurs who appreciate its unique blend of tropical and woody notes.

Was ein toller Rum! Schöne Süße mit viel Frucht und weniger typischen Caroni Noten, dennoch ein wirklich leckerer Rum.
29.01.2022 The big Caroni tasting with old rum buddies, good food, snacks and a lot of talking about old times. Notes Medium dark to dark in colour. Nose Wood, light roasted, spice, light caramel, plum, faint anise. Palate Well rounded, naturally sweet, wood, light roasted, plum, raisin, light chocolate, light mint. Finish Medium to long, naturally sweet, wood, light smoke, mint, roasted, faint licorice.
a real flash on the nose. Very complex and an amazing range of different flavors. It takes a while breathing in the glass before it opens up. Then there is a complexity of herbal, roast and wood aromas with a decent hint of dried fruits. Licorice is the only flavor I can spot that keeps up with the Coroni myth. It doesn’t held the promise on the palate. But of course it’s still a complex rum. Dried fruits, fennel and Eucalyptus, malt, roast aromas. And a subtle sweetness. I wonder if it might reach a higher level with a bit of sugar. Don’t kill me, but like salt in the kitchen sugar helps pushing the flavors. Have a look at the old Zacapas.
Very unusual Caroni. Almost no notes of petrol in it, but berry fruits and flowers.
