How does this rum taste?
Rhum Negrita, distilled at Bardinet in the Caribbean, features a 37.5% ABV. It offers aromatic notes led by vanilla and sweetness, accompanied by alcoholic, woody, and fruity hints. Users describe its flavor profile as sweet and vanilla-forward, albeit thin and diluted, with woody undertones. While some appreciate its gentle nature in mixed drinks, others critique it for lack of depth and its watered-down taste. It is frequently recommended for culinary uses, especially in desserts like crêpes, rather than for pure sipping, with opinions varying significantly among reviewers. Perfect for those seeking a mild rum for creative cocktail or culinary endeavors.

This should not really be called rhum.... It is watered down almost beyond recognition and only hints of sweetness and bitterness in the taste.... All aromas have disappeared. A rhum like this could spoil a beginner's start 😌
I'd never had the chance to test this Negrita on its own. Now I have. And it will probably be the one and only time. It's of no interest either for tasting or for cocktails. Maybe for pancakes and cakes, but no more.
First of all: there is an older bottling in my glass. Unfortunately, I don't know the exact year and only this bottling is available here on RumX. Unfortunately, I don't know to what extent this differs from the current bottling. Surprisingly exciting nose! Fruity and sweet, almost multi-layered with lots of exotic fruit. Unfortunately, the palate is the complete opposite: thin and watered down, apart from a little sweetness, there's not much left here! A few extra points for the nose, but all in all a bottling that you don't need!
One of the worst drops I have ever tasted.... horrible.
