Rum Nation Diamond Small Batch Rare Rums 2005
Most enjoy its intense smoke, roasted wood and dark chocolate. Critics find the cask influence heavy, sulphury and masking classic Guyana fruit. Consensus: niche, whisky-leaning rum for peat fans.
Peated whisky lovers and curious rum explorers who enjoy smoky, cask-driven profiles and don’t mind sacrificing classic Guyana fruit for ash, wood and dark chocolate notes.

How does this rum taste?
Guyana rum for Islay whisky lovers
If you like Lagavulin-style peat and want to see how that works in rum, this is worth a try; if you crave classic sweet, fruity Diamond, you’ll likely be disappointed.
Beginners, those sensitive to high ABV, or fans of sweet, fruity Demeraras looking for the typical dark-fruit Diamond profile without heavy smoke or sulphury cask notes.

Guyana meets Islay. Abartig, aber irgendwie auch geil.
Whiskey finishes hardly ever make real sense in rum in my eyes - unfortunately, I can't shake that feeling here either. While the smokiness can certainly be said to have a complementary effect, for me as a lover of the classic Guyana profile with heavy sweetness, dark fruits and dense aromatics, these flavors are simply not needed. In the end, however, everyone may decide for themselves, it does not really pick me up.
