The 1st Employees Dennis "X" Gopaul HTR rum represents a distinctive offering from the Caroni distillery in Trinidad, selected and bottled by Velier. Distilled in 1998, it aged for 20 years and is presented at a robust cask strength of 69.5% ABV. This limited edition, with only 1092 bottles, features intense aromas of caramel, rubber, and cocoa. Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Aromatically a stunner, but the alcohol remains present. At just under 70%, this is not really a point of criticism, the rum is still excellent and fun to drink. Definitely one of the outstanding tropical representatives of the 1998 vintage.
Really great nose with lots of caramel and cocoa.The alcohol is too present on the palate (just under 70%) and prevents a top rating.
Caroni essence as it is written in the book. Wild bitter vanilla concentrate, car paint, burnt rubber, dark chocolate, fresh mentholated allspice and a hint of salted caramel! Fat! Thanks Oli for the opportunity ❣️
A very nice Caroni! The nose is amazing with lots of caramel! On the palate it is massively hot! Almost too strong for me, lots of alcahol. Still a wonderfully complex caroni if taken in very small sips, tar, rubber, wood, some dark chocolate, with a long finish.
